The following was sent out from The New York Times’ Graphics editors Archie Tse and Wilson Andrews:
We’re excited to announce that Leanne Abraham is joining the Graphics department as a graphics editor.
Leanne joins us from Planet, where she was a data visualization engineer working to make satellite imagery available to newsrooms around the world. She helped to develop new approaches for visualizing remote sensing and satellite data and led Planet’s drought response in 2021.
Leanne earned a master’s degree in cartography and GIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and majored in geography and sociology in her undergraduate studies at Syracuse University. She has also held positions at National Geographic, National Public Radio and the American Association of Geographers.
Please join us in welcoming Leanne to The Times.
