Nnamdi Egwuonwu

Tom Namako and Amanda Terkel of NBC News sent out the following announcement:

We are excited to announce that Nnamdi Egwuonwu will be joining us as a breaking news reporter on the NBC News digital politics team.

Nnamdi willbe working Wednesday-Sunday on the evening shift, a crucial time during an administration that likes to make news late into the night.

You are all familiar already with Nnamdi’s work as a campaign embed. During his time in the program, he covered Tim Scott, South Carolina, Georgia, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and any other news of the day. He was a prolific writer for digital, where he broke news about Biden’s controversial commencement address at Morehouse, Scott’s comments about striking federal workers and the presidential candidates’ tactics to win over voters of color.

We were consistently impressed with Nnamdi’s eye for a good story, eagerness to cultivate sources and chase scoops and his willingness to take on any assignment. And he helped the network prepare for its big GOP primary debate by playing the role of Scott in the mock sessions.

Nnamdi has been with the NBCU News Group since 2019, as a producer for both CNBC and MSNBC. An Atlanta native, Nnamdi graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

With Nnamdi coming aboard on weekend evenings, Megan Lebowitz will be moving to a Sunday-Thursday morning shift.

Nnamdi starts with us on Feb. 12, and he’ll soon be moving to Washington to work out of the bureau. Please join us in congratulating him.
