Washington Post taps Armario as deputy editor, America desk

The Washington Post has promoted Christine Armario to deputy editor of America desk. She will help expand the Post’s reach and guide the team to cover enterprise and national breaking news.

Previously, she served as deputy editor on the general assignment team and was at the Miami Herald, where she worked as Latin America editor.

There, she launched a data project on vaccine inequality in Latin America that went on to win a National Headliner Award for international reporting.

She formerly worked at The Associated Press for 12 years and began her career at Newsday.

Armario was the founding president of the NAHJ South Florida chapter and graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
