Washington Post names Wallsten senior national investigations editor

The Washington Post has tapped Peter Wallsten as senior national investigations editor.

In his new role, Wallsten will spearhead investigative pieces across the National staff, while working with other editors and reporters. He will also serve as lead on National’s investigative collaborations with other departments.

In addition, he will also oversee The Post’s new Democracy team.

Wallsten has been serving as The Post’s national politics editor for the past 4 years. He joined The Post in 2010 as a White House correspondent, and then holding the post of political enterprise writer. Before that, he has covered national politics for the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times.

He also reported on Florida politics and government for the then-St. Petersburg Times and the Miami Herald.

Wallsten graduated from the University of North Carolina, where he was editor of the Daily Tar Heel.
