Star Tribune appoints Harkness as its first AME for diversity and community

Kyndell Harkness

Kyndell Harkness, a photo editor and 20-year veteran at the Star Tribune, has been named the newspaper’s first assistant managing editor for diversity and community.

She is also photo editing chair – best of photojournalism from National Press Photographers Association. She has also worked as a photo instructor at AAJA J Camp and was staff photographer at The Star Tribune (Minneapolis) for 15 years, from 2000 to 2015.

Additionally, she has also worked as a staff photographer at both Daily Press and The State News.

Harkness holds a B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University.
