The States Newsroom has tapped retired journalist Sonny Albarado to take on the role of editor-in-chief of its new Arkansas outlet.
Albarado served on the boards of the SPJ Foundation in Indiana, the Associated Press Media Editors and Society of Professional Journalists. He previously worked at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as acting city editor and projects editor.
He has held editorial posts at The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn. and The Morning Advocate in Louisiana. He also held various posts at E.W. Scripps, including deputy business editor, projects editor, business editor and news editor.
Albarado graduated from Nicholls State University.
