NYT promotes Henríquez to editor for newsroom development and support

Charo Henríquez

The New York Times promoted Charo Henríquez to the role of editor, newsroom development and support.

In her new role, Henríquez will work closely with product teams to develop “new embedded training approaches and expands newsroom support efforts.”

Henríquez joined the Times in 2017 as senior editor, digital storytelling and training. A year later, she was made senior editor, digital transition strategy.

Prior to the Times, Henríquez has served as executive digital editor, People en Español at Time Inc. She has also worked at GFR Media as an associate business director and innovation editor. She has also served as multimedia editor at Editorial Primera Hora.

Apart from these outlets, Henríquez has also worked at Apex Technologies Inc., El Nuevo Dia, Virtual Inc., and El Mundo de Puerto Rico.

In addition, she is also a board member of Online News Association and advisory council board member to the Spanish-language Journalism Project at Craig Newman Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

Henríquez is a B.A. in communications from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and a J.D. in law from Universidad de Puerto Rico.
