NY Times taps Khan to serve as an investigative reporter

Azmat Khan

Azmat Khan, a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine, will join the staff full-time as an investigative reporter for the magazine and the newsroom.

Previously, Khan has reported for BuzzFeed News, New America, Al Jazeera and PBS FRONTLINE.

She is a Patti Cadby Birch Assistant Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where she is also the inaugural Director of the newly established Simon and June Li Center for Global Journalism.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pulitzer Center.

Khan won numerous awards, including a Pulitzer; the National Magazine Award; a Polk Award for Military Reporting; the Overseas Press Club’s Ed Cunningham Award for Magazine Reporting and the Roy Rowan Award for Investigative Reporting; the Hillman Prize for Magazine Journalism; and the John Seigenthaler Courage in Journalism Award.

Khan graduated from the University of Michigan and holds a postgraduate degree from Oxford University.
