The New York Times has added the title of editor for visual investigations to Mark Scheffler’s current role of deputy editor for video. As per the Times:
“Mark will continue overseeing the visual investigations team, and he will now manage an expansion of visual investigations as a major coverage type, with responsibility for editorial direction of an increasing volume of accountability journalism rooted in visual evidence.”
Prior to the Times, Scheffler launched a mobile reporting platform at The Wall Street Journal, where he also oversaw international video news. Before that, he headed up video coverage at GlobalPost.
He also contributed to the Chicago Tribune and freelanced for the Times and The Wall Street Journal.
