NY Times names two new deputy metro editors
The New York Times has promoted Nestor Ramos and Judy Tong to the post of deputy metro editors.
In his new role, Ramos will help oversee the desk and will direct long-form narrative writers among other tasks, while Tong will work closely with the team in managing the desk and taking care of a broader portfolio, including recruitment and expanding the audience.
Nestor joined The Times from The Boston Globe, where he wrote a local column, produced investigative and narrative journalism and helped run the Metro desk. He has previously also reported and edited for papers in Rochester and South Dakota.
Tong previously served as senior editor, news product and senior editor, quality and planning for metro at The Times. She was also a news editor, West Coast, and deputy West Coast editor at The Guardian.
She has previously also worked as a staff editor for web, senior staff editor for web and then as a senior staff editor for metro at the Times.
