Joshi swaps Politico for the Washington Post

The Washington Post has appointed Pradnya Joshi as national weekend editor, helping lead national news from Friday through Monday, providing seamless weekend coverage. She will focus on breaking news stories.

She begins Feb. 7.

Joshi joins from Politico, where she was an editor for the trade and agriculture policy teams. She also helped launch new bureaus, including one in Canada. There, she was also part of a Polk Award-winning series.

Prior to Politico, she was an assistant business editor at The New York Times. She has also covered various business beats for Newsday, including tech, Wall Street, corporate crime and economic development in New York City.

She also covered the commercialization of the Web, and the retail sector, telecommunications and tech for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She earlier interned in the business section of the Los Angeles Times.

Joshi has a B.S. and M.S. in journalism and international studies from Northwestern University.
