St. John Barned-Smith will move into an investigations role at the Houston Chronicle, covering a wider range of topics.
Recently, he worked as a public safety reporter and wrote about the state’s criminal justice system. He was part of the paper’s “Super Breaking News” team, covering major disasters including Hurricane Harvey, and previously covered breaking news and crime.
He was a courts and crime reporter at The Montgomery County Gazette in Maryland and formerly worked at The Philadelphia Daily News. He also freelanced for the Philadelphia Weekly and Newsweek – Current magazine.
Barned-Smith graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
