Daily Herald’s Erd receives two awards at national contest

Amanda Erd

Amanda Erd, a multiplatform copy editor at the Daily Herald won two awards in an annual competition sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women.

Erd, who has been with the Daily Herald for 5 years won the first-place award in the infographics category, and an honorable mention in the page design category, for work done in 2019.

She qualified for the national contest by winning both categories in the Illinois Women’s Press Association contest in the spring.

Previously, Erd was a patient service representative at Cadence Health and was also a student worker at Saluki Media Services.

Additionally, she has also worked as a staff writer and managing editor at The Observer.

Erd is a B.S. in journalism from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
