Journalist David Jackson has joined Better Government Association as a senior investigative reporter.

Jackson’s position was created as part of the BGA Fund for Illinois Investigative Reporting, a new BGA initiative designed to protect investigative reporting in Illinois.

Jackson comes to BGA after spending nearly 30 years at the Chicago Tribune. He also worked at The Washington Post for a year where he and his team were awarded the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for public service.

Additionally, Jackson is also a four-time Pulitzer finalist during his time at the Tribune.

“The BGA’s fearless investigative reporting holds powerful officials accountable from City Hall to Springfield. This work is needed now more than ever, and I am humbled to join the team,” Jackson said.

“David Jackson is a unique talent whose incisive, compassionate and authoritative reporting consistently leads to reform,” added David Greising, president of the BGA. “David is the prototype for the talented, accomplished journalists we have in mind in creating the new BGA Fund for Investigative Journalism.”

Jackson has also contributed funding for a multi-year internship program at the BGA named for his longtime Tribune reporting partner Marx, with the program being launched this summer.
