The Associated Press has appointed Tom Verdin democracy editor to oversee coverage of challenges to democracy, voting rights, election processes and related areas.
Verdin is a 20-year veteran of the Associated Press, having held various roles, including Southern California news editor, editor/reporter, Sacramento bureau chief and national editor – State government team.
He formerly reported and edited at Gannett papers in Michigan and California.
Verdin holds a bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University and a master’s degree from California State University-Dominguez Hills.
