New York Times business editor Ellen Pollock sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
I’m pleased to announce that Rich Barbieri will join us as deputy business editor.
Rich comes to us from CNN, where he is executive editor of CNN Business. He has been at CNN for about 12 years, and now oversees a global team of about 50 reporters and editors covering companies, economics, technology, media, markets and the workplace. Before that he was managing editor of CNNMoney.
Previously, Rich worked at Crain’s New York Business, as managing editor, and The Associated Press, also in New York. He spent a bunch of years at American Lawyer Media, where his gigs included editor-in-chief of Legal Times, in Washington.
Rich will help us attain our digital and storytelling goals as we continue to build our business coverage for current and future readers.
Rich serves on the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship Board of Advisors and is on the board of SABEW.
So please join me in welcoming Rich. He starts on Oct. 14.
