NY Times’ Pulitzer winner Gettleman takes on new role

Jeffrey Gettleman

The New York Times has tapped Jeffrey Gettleman as a global correspondent, based in London. Gettleman has been writing for the Times for nearly 20 years, initially based in Atlanta.

He has also covered Iraq, East Africa, South Asia, and most recently Ukraine. Gettleman got his first job covering police and courts at The St. Petersburg Times. He has also worked at the Los Angeles Times and joined the Times in 2002 as a correspondent in Atlanta.

Gettleman has served on the Metro desk and as East Africa bureau chief in Nairobi. He was  also based in New Delhi as the Times’ South Asia bureau chief.

Gettleman is a graduate of Cornell University and Oxford University.
