The following was sent out from The New York Times deputy picture editor Beth Flynn and director of photography Meaghan Looram:

We are delighted to welcome Stephen Reiss back to The New York Times photo department. He will be working with the National and Investigations desks.

Stephen was most recently a photo editor at The Wall Street Journal, where he worked on the National and Politics sections. His recent editing work there won awards from Pictures of the Year International and The Society for News Design.

Before The Journal, Stephen worked at The Times as a photo editor on the Homepage and Express desks. He also worked on a product partnership with Samsung, where he helped develop a newsfeed to send to Samsung daily that displayed NYT photos and news headlines to users with QLED TVs.

Previously, he was a photo editor at The New York Daily News and staff photojournalist at The Times-News in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Please join us in welcoming Stephen back to the team!
