WSJ reporter Abdel-Baqui departing

Omar Abdel-Baqui, a breaking news reporter at The Wall Street Journal, will leave.

Abdel-Baqui’s tweet reads:

“Thrilled about this: I’m preparing to move to the Palestinian Territories as a @FulbrightPrgrm fellow in the coming weeks. I’ll be teaching English to Palestinian students for nearly a year through the program. I’m excited beyond words.”

Previously, he was a corporate reporting intern, covering businesses from small home contractors to corporations at the Journal. He held various roles at The Detroit Free Press, including police reporter, general assignment reporter and reporting news intern.

He interned at NBC News.

Abdel-Baqui has a B.A. in journalism and Arabic from Wayne State University.
