John Simons

Chip Cummins, the Europe business editor at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

I’m delighted to announce that John Simons will be headed to London to take on the role of London energy editor. He will lead our EMEA energy, mining and OPEC coverage, working with a team of reporters here, as well as energy-leaning correspondents and their chiefs around the world.

John is departing New York after a successful stint as deputy bureau chief for the management and careers bureau. Before that, he wrote and edited business stories for a wide range of publications, including Fortune, International Business Times and the Associated Press. He also did an earlier stint at the Journal, as an economic policy reporter.

He is a graduate of Northeastern University. As a longtime Manchester United fan, he looks forward to watching Saturday games that don’t start at 7 a.m.  He is expected to land in London in mid-July. Please join me in welcoming John to his new role and new city.
