WSJ hires Niiler to cover climate

Eric Niiler

The Wall Street Journal has hired Eric Niiler to cover climate.

He is a former contributing writer to Wired and has written about science, technology, and climate for the Washington Post, National Geographic, and Discovery News. He contributed to NPR as an on-air reporter and filed stories from Antarctica, Estonia and Mexico.

In April 2004, he was embedded with U.S. Marines in Fallujah during combat operations.

Niiler is a former reporter at WETA-FM Washington, and KPBS-FM San Diego, and was a staff writer for The San Diego Union-Tribune, The Patriot-Ledger, and The Charleston Gazette. On Capitol Hill, he guided a team of reporters covering Congress for local public radio stations, serving as both mentor and editor.

Niiler has a master’s degree in Science and Medical Journalism from Boston University, and a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley.
