STAT News hires Wosen to cover biotech and life sciences

Jonathan Wosen

Jonathan Wosen has joined STAT News as a West Coast biotech and life sciences reporter, carving out a new beat covering the biotech companies, research institutes and people behind the West Coast’s booming life science sector.

Previously, he covered the biotech industry for the San Diego Union-Tribune. Wosen has also worked as a freelance writer at Haymarket Media Group and was a science writing intern at the Annual Reviews where he wrote Q&As, features and contributed to the Review’s weekly newsletter.

Wosen held the same intern post at the Santa Cruz Sentinel where he covered science and environment news. He has also interned at the Stanford University School of Medicine and also served as a podcast writer and host at Goggles Optional.

He has also previously interned at STAT and freelanced for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News.

Wosen is a B.A. in biology from Williams College and holds a master’s degree in science communication from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is also a PhD in immunology from Stanford University.
