Peden Doma Bhutia has been hired by travel industry news site Skift as its Asia editor.

She starts March 7. In her role, Bhutia will report on and coordinate coverage of the business of travel in Asia, the Middle East and India. She will be based in India for Skift, a fully remote company now.

“We are lucky to have somebody with Peden’s experience and contacts anchoring our coverage across such a large swath of globe, especially coming out of the pandemic as travel faces the challenges of recovery,” said Tom Lowry, Skift’s editor-in-chief, to whom Bhutia will report.

Bhutia brings years of reporting and editing experience to Skift, most recently as the editor of ETTravel, the B2B travel vertical of the Economic Times, which she helped to launch.

She also was an editor at DDPPL with its family of travel publications. Previously, she served stints as a correspondent for the Times of India and the Times of Oman. She started her career as a copy editor at The Telegraph.
