Schoenberger named editor in chief of American Banker
Arizent CEO Gemma Postlethwaite sent out the following announcement on Thursday:
I am delighted to share with you that Chana Schoenberger, current Editor in Chief of Financial Planning, has been appointed Editor in Chief of American Banker. Effective immediately, Chana will lead American Banker across all channels, including American Banker Magazine. As part of her new role, Chana will chair The Most Powerful Women in Banking program, now in its 20th year. I am confident under her leadership the American Banker Brand will continue to advance the professional banking community.
Before joining Arizent in December 2020, Chana served as managing editor of U.S. Wealth Management at J.P. Morgan Chase. Prior to J.P. Morgan, she was a freelance journalist writing about business, technology, and finance for the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere in the national press. Chana also wrote about academic research for the Chicago Booth Review, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Stanford Business Magazine, and other publications. From 2010 to 2012, she covered foreign exchange at Dow Jones and the WSJ. From 2007 to 2010, she was based in Tokyo, first as a foreign correspondent and associate editor for Forbes Magazine and then as an editor for Bloomberg News. From 1999 to 2007, Chana was on staff at Forbes in New York City, starting as a reporter. Chana holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia, where she was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow in Economics and Business Journalism, and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard. She is based in New York City.
With the appointment of Chana, Dean Anason, Penny Crosman, John Heitman, Kevin Wack, Daniel Wolfe and teams will all report to Chana. Brian Wallheimer, Managing Editor of Financial Planning, will in the interim lead the FP team while a search is conducted for a new Editor in Chief.
As a result of this change, Bonnie McGeer is no longer with Arizent and after a period of transition, Alan Kline will be leaving Arizent.
I want to thank Alan and Bonnie for their important contributions to our organization over the past 25 and 15 years respectively. We wish them well in their future endeavors.
As a reminder, any press inquiries must be directed to me.
Please join me in congratulating Chana on her new role.
