paul_ingrassia_v6Reuters managing editor Paul Ingrassia, who moved to London in 2013, is moving back to the United States.

He will be working from his home in Naples, Florida, until his April 30 retirement.

Editor Steve Adler sent out the following announcement to the staff:

Paul Ingrassia, who has served so brilliantly as managing editor for nearly five years, is moving back to the U.S. next month to work on special projects ahead of his retirement in April 2016. Spoiler alert: these projects may have something to do with motor vehicles.

Starting in mid-December, the three regional editors — Jean Yoon, Dayan Candappa and Richard Mably — along with John Pullman, global head of visuals and multimedia; Alessandra Galloni, soon-to-be global news editor; and Jonathan Leff, global editor of commodities and energy, will all report directly to me. Eric Burroughs, Reuters Buzz editor-in-charge, will report to Dayan Candappa.

We will have plenty of time to roast, toast, and otherwise cheer on our departing ME. For now, let me just say that Paul has brought to his role extraordinary knowledge and impeccable news judgment, along with an irrepressible passion for journalism. He cares about both people and ideas, is a terrific teacher and a straight shooter, and has been the ideal partner to me in my role. When the time comes – though not just yet – we will sorely miss him.

With best regards,
Steve
