Lawrence Hurley, a legal affairs reporter at Reuters, is leaving the news organization for a new opportunity.
He has been recently covering the U.S. Supreme Court, and he was part of a Pulitzer Prize winning team project on how the defense of qualified immunity protects police officers accused of excessive force.
Hurley has been with Reuters since February 2013. He previously was a legal reporter for E&E News and also covered Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court for the Los Angeles Daily Journal.
He also was a legal affairs reporter for The Daily Record in Baltimore and a reporter for the Gloucester Citizen.
Hurley holds a master’s degree from the University of St. Andrews.
