August 2, 2010

Stephen Adler, the senior vice president and editorial director at Thomson Reuters professional division, made the following announcement on Monday:

“I’m delighted to share the good news that Eric Effron, most recently executive editor of The Week magazine and formerly editor and publisher of Legal Times, is joining the new Thomson Reuters Professional NewsCenter as Editor for Law.

“In this senior role, Eric will work closely with me, Executive Editor Amy Stevens and Chief Operating Officer Mike Bender to provide world-class journalism to customers of Thomson Reuters market-leading legal businesses world-wide.

“Eric brings to the position extensive leadership experience in both legal and consumer publishing and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. For the past seven years, he has helped guide The Week, the highly regarded news and opinion aggregator. Earlier, he served for more than a decade in the top editorial and publishing jobs at Legal Times, the award-winning Washington, D.C., weekly. During this time, he helped launch the first online service for lawyers and appeared as a commentator on Court TV. Effron went on to become editor of Brill’s Content, the innovative media magazine. A graduate of Clark University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Eric started his career as a reporter for The New Haven Register.

“Eric’s arrival after Labor Day, coupled with some terrific additions soon to be announced, will build on the momentum we’re creating as we work to combine the extraordinary strengths of Reuters, the world’s leading news organization, with the unmatched expertise and deep customer relationships of the Professional division to benefit our customers.”
