Portland Biz Journal makes beat changes

Portland Business Journal editor Suzanne Stevens writes about some beat changes at the paper.

Stevens writes, “We are repositioning Pete Danko‘s beat to encompass climate and natural resources. Pete will continue his award-winning coverage of Oregon’s wine and cannabis industries, as well as energy. But given the pace at which climate change is presenting challenges and opportunities for businesses, this more comprehensive beat structure makes sense.

Elizabeth Hayes has helped PBJ readers navigate an array of weighty health care topics over the years, including implementation of the affordable care act and Covid. She is a master at untangling complicated subjects and she’ll apply that same expertise to her added beat of law, covering trends and people in the region’s legal industry as well as high-profile lawsuits.

“Commercial real estate reporter Jonathan Bach has added finance to his beat. It’s a natural addition given how interwoven CRE and banking are. Jonathan will also continue the PBJ’s coverage of equity in lending. He came out of the gate strong on that topic with a December report on lending in Portland’s majority-minority census tracts.”
