Orange County Register biz editor leaving for TheStreet.com

May 10, 2008

Glenn Hall, who ran the business section of the Orange County Register for the past three years, is leaving the paper to become editor at TheStreet.com, according to an internal e-mail from the paper’s editor, Ken Brusic.

Glenn HallHall, who had spent a decade at Bloomberg News before joining the Register, tells Talking Biz News he will start work at TheStreet.com on June 9. TheStreet.com is expected to make an announcement next week.

Hall will report to editor in chief Dave Morrow. His position is a new one.

Brusic writes, “Glenn Hall, deputy editor for innovation and business, will be leaving the Register to become editor of TheStreet.com in New York. There he will lead a team of more than 80 financial journalists. TheStreet.com is a publicly traded company founded by CNBC’s Mad Money Host Jim Cramer. Its Web sites cover the global markets and business news for both private investors and professionals.

“Glenn has been a strong contributor of new ideas and thinking during his three years here. He led the change from a fairly traditional business section to a very successful Marketplace section. He has inspired innovation both within our news and information center as well as throughout the company. We will miss his energy, enthusiasm and keen mind.

“Though the timing is not great, Glenn assures me his decision was not prompted by the recent layoffs or a lack of confidence in our company or our industry. This move is, in fact, a great opportunity to build on his
fine accomplishments here.

“Over the next three weeks, Glenn will assist with the transition of his responsibilities. The Marketplace team will continue to self-manage under the leadership of the team leaders, who have been successfully managing the Web and newspaper operations together as a management team for some time. The innovation initiatives Glenn has been working on will continue as planned and new project managers will take over in the coming weeks. Glenn’s last day will be May 28.”
