New reporter hired in WSJ’s DC bureau

Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief John Bussey sent out the following announcement Friday morning:

“I’m pleased to announce that Julian Barnes has joined the Washington bureau to cover the Pentagon. Julian most recently was the Pentagon and national security reporter at the Los Angeles Times, where he worked for four years.

“Julian previously worked as the military affairs and investigative reporter for U.S. News & World Report; as a reporter for the business and metro sections of the New York Times; and as a general assignment reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. He won an Overseas Press Club award for a story on insurgency in Iraq in 2005.

“Julian graduated from Harvard College in 1993, where he was president and editor of the Harvard Crimson.”
