The ASBPE Educational Foundation presenedt its fifth Business Journalism Scholarship to Emily Dreibelbis, a graduate student at the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University.

Dreibelbis, who earned her bachelor’s degree in history from Columbia University, came to the field of journalism after seven years of working in business and technology on the West Coast, most recently as a product manager at Amazon for six years.

“Making the switch to a new industry where I can use my background to enhance my reporting has been immensely gratifying,” she said in a statement.

This summer, she is doing an editorial fellowship at PC Magazine (PCMag), where she’ll be rotating around the News, Features and Product reviews teams and publishing regularly. Using her supply chain knowledge, she is also freelancing for B2B publications.

“I’m not sure what’s after that yet, but I’m excited to explore opportunities,” Dreibelbis said. “I’m so grateful to Medill and the ASBPE Educational Foundation for their support of my journey.”

Abe Peck, director of business-to-business communications at Medill, partnered with past Foundation president Roy Harris and Foundation president Amy Fischbach to launch the scholarship program in 2018.

Dreibelbis is in Peck’s class this summer as part of the one-year graduate program.
