MarketWatch.com tech editor and San Francisco bureau chief Jeremy Owens sent out the following announcement on Friday:

Everyone,

Please welcome Wally Witkowski to his new role on the Companies team as a tech reporter. Wally is moving over from the Markets team to help cover the technology industry from the heart of Silicon Valley.

Wally will hit his 10th anniversary with MarketWatch in October, and has dabbled in just about everything imaginable in his time with us. Now, he will cover tech and company earnings with a focus that is still to be determined, though he is very excited to sift through the possibilities.

I have leaned on Wally greatly since I joined the S.F. Bureau for after-hours earnings coverage and his knowledge on markets, biotech/pharma and general finance. His ability to quickly turn around copy on just about any topic or company has been extremely valuable, and will continue to be in his new role, while also giving him the opportunity to dive deeper into tech topics that are at the forefront in our region.

Thanks,
