Can you share what it’s like covering the world of fintech? How do you typically find story ideas and angles?

I feel like I got to start covering fintech at a critical time in its growth! The space exploded in 2020 and continued to grow in 2021.

Things have calmed down some this year, but it’s still a dynamic—and extremely important—industry. I’m drawn to companies that are trying to make a real change in the world and help boost inclusion or broaden access to more populations. There was a point where it became hard to tell companies apart because there were so many in a given area. So now one of the most important questions I have for companies who pitch me is, “What is your differentiator? What makes what you do different/better than other companies out there?”

I’m also drawn to nontraditional founders, or those who started companies based on their own needs or personal experiences.
