Margaret de Luna

CNBC chairman Mark Hoffman sent out the following announcement on Friday:

I am pleased to announce Margaret de Luna is joining CNBC as Senior Vice President and General Manager of our Direct-to-Consumer business. Margaret will report to me and be responsible for overall strategy and operations of this rapidly growing business category at CNBC. Working alongside Jay Yarow and the entire leadership team, she will focus on CNBC PRO, as well as a suite of new products that will be developed over time. Margaret will begin on August 2nd and be based at CNBC Global Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, N.J.

Margaret comes to CNBC from Tribune Publishing where she was General Manager of Digital Subscriptions. In that role, she was responsible for driving significant audience and revenue growth for the company’s subscription business in eight markets across the country.

Prior to that, Margaret was President and Chief Operating Officer at TheStreet where she led the charge for the company’s turnaround business strategy. Over her three-year tenure, she built an audience for TheStreet.com and also grew its subscription, digital advertising, licensing and event businesses. But arguably her biggest accomplishment was overseeing a year-long M&A process that culminated in the organization’s acquisition in 2019.

Earlier in her career, Margaret spent more than a decade at MarketWatch in San Francisco, first as a product manager, and later moved up the ranks to Interim General Manager. While there, she was responsible for developing and executing the organization’s strategy and leading key initiatives across its subscription investment newsletters, mobile app and content management system (CMS).

With more than 20 years of experience in the digital media industry, Margaret’s track record of scaling multiple businesses is something to admire. And with the help of our talented staff, I am excited for Margaret to dive in and work closely with each team to create a roadmap that positions our Direct-to-Consumer business for success, creating must-have products for new and existing audiences.

Please join me in welcoming Margaret to CNBC.
