Cheddar hires Starkman to lead original programming
Elyssa Starkman has been hired by business news channel Cheddar as director of original programming and development.
She will report to chief content officer Peter Gorenstein and will be charged with building out Cheddar’s live and on-demand scripted and unscripted original programming.
“Over the last few months we’ve found great success beyond our live broadcast on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn among other social platforms. Elyssa’s immense creativity and gift of managing teams and large projects sets up perfectly for more growth on these platforms,” noted Gorenstein in a statement. “She has a unique grasp of culture and the zeitgeist, and is a proven creator.”
Most recently Starkman led the content team at Beautycon, creating conversations around beauty and identity both IRL and URL. Prior to that, she worked on the content teams at PopSugar and Refinery29 where she created partnerships for some of the biggest advertisers in the world.
Before moving to the publisher side, Starkman spent more than seven years overseeing Procter & Gamble’s beauty and grooming content at LiquidThread, a division of MediaVest.
“Cheddar is constantly innovating and adapting and I’m excited to join the team as we continue to expand our content onto new platforms, in new ways,” said Starkman in a statement. “I have always been obsessed with the way audiences find, watch and engage with the stories that matter to them, I can’t wait to bring those stories to life through the lens of Cheddar.”
Cheddar is now live 8 hours every day on platforms such as Sling, Twitter, Amazon and Pluto.
