Tanaya Macheel has been hired as a reporter for online business news channel Cheddar.
She starts next month. She will be doing original reporting on fintech and crypto as the second reporter on the Cheddar scoops team, along with Alex Heath and editor Jim Roberts.
Macheel has most recently been an editor at Tearsheet, a Digiday publication focused on the modernization of money. She has been there since January 2017 and left May 18.
Before that, Macheel worked as a reporter for American Banker, where she helped grow coverage of bitcoin and blockchain as the banking industry slowly opened to the new technology.
Macheel also worked as a reporter for CoinDesk in New York for two years.
She is a New York University graduate.
