Business reporting position open in Charleston, WV

November 7, 2005

Got this from Eric Eyre, who recently moved over from education to business at the Charleston, W.Va., newspaper. Eric is a reader of the blog:

The Charleston Gazette has an opening for a business reporter. The Gazette
is a 51,000 daily/84,000 Sunday newspaper in the heart of Appalachia. We’ve
won the Loeb business writing award for papers under 150,000 circulation two
out of the past three years. We specialize in investigative reporting (this
year the Gazette won the IRE Medal and APME Public Service Award). We’re
also independently owned (no job cuts in the eight years I’ve worked here).
Please send an e-mail to ericeyre@wvgazette.com if you’re interested.

The business section can be read online here. Eric is known for his investigative work. Earlier this year, he was writing a bunch of investigative stories on the excessive spending by the state’s homeland security chief, including buying gas with his state credit card on days that he wasn’t working.

If you’d like to read one of its Loeb-award winning stories, you can find one of the stories from the winning 2004 entry here.
