Called “The Price of Profits,” the series is extensively covering how capitalism has become too short-term/shareholder/quarterly profit focused, and what this means for the economy overall. Business Insider’s first story in the series can be found here.

It’s the second time that they have collaborated. Last year, “Marketplace” and Business Insider’s Tech Insider launched a podcast called “Codebreaker.”

“Marketplace is a great partner – they have a smart, curious audience, and their storytelling is renowned for a reason,” said Business Insider editor in chief Henry Blodget. “Tech Insider previously partnered with them on Codebreaker, a podcast series covering intriguing questions about technology. Business Insider has been wanting to do more stories expanding on the ‘better capitalism’ theme. Marketplace had also been thinking about something similar — as a special series — so it made perfect sense to partner with them again.”

As part of the collaboration, Blodget took the unusual step of posting on LinkedIn to lay out his thesis that capitalism has gone astray.

In conjunction, BI launched its first-ever Creators list, which spotlights those spearheading the kind of enlightened capitalism Blodget hopes will spread.
