Baltimore Times launches biz magazine

June 23, 2006

The Baltimore Times, a black newspaper, launched a small and minority business magazine on Monday, according to a story in Friday’s paper.

The inaugural Summer 2006 Small+Minority Business Magazine can be found in the June 23 issue of The Baltimore Times and The Baltimore County Times newspapers.

Reporter Ken Morgan wrote, “Donnie Manuel, director of advertising for The Baltimore Times, played a key role in the creation of the business magazine. He says, ‘The magazine is geared to three kinds of businesspersons. First, there are the small and minority trail blazers in business. They take advantage of the ways to do things, then there are those who watch the trail blazers to learn and finally, there are those who ask if the trail is burning.’

“Other speakers gave a hint of what will be in future articles and informed the audience that some of the business experts will be available for blogging.

Mario Armstrong, seen regularly on Baltimore City’s cable show ‘Business Pulse’ and is a successful businessperson in his own right, gave more advice: ‘Execution is the difference between success and failure. Take inside scoops of information and connect the dots. Value your time. If you do not leverage technology, hang it up.'”
