AP biz desk looking to expand

June 8, 2010

The Associated Press business news desk is looking to increase its staffing.

There are seven new positions — six beat reporters and one editor, according to a source on the AP business desk. The AP is hiring reporters on these teams: real estate, energy, retailing, autos, markets and Money & Markets. The business desk is also hiring another spot desk news editor, an administrative position.

Most of the jobs are in New York. The energy reporter would be based in Houston.

The AP, which has its main newsroom in New York, is also recruiting for two other positions approved recently: a markets reporter and a health care team leader.

The jobs are available for review at the AP career site here, but registration is required. They are also available at JournalismJobs.com. Some of the job listings are linked above.

In addition, there’s a national banking reporter position available at  the AP.
