Yahoo Sports seeks a senior editor: trending news & live experiences

Yahoo Sports connects fans to the sports and fantasy games they love most, providing personalized quality content and superior fan experiences every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage team of bloggers and short-form writers tasked with creating and aggregating breaking and trending news content.
  • Coordinate live blog scheduling for designated events.
  • Partner with sport editors to build weekly content and coverage plans.
  • Collaborate with tentpoles team on content plan for big events, including playoffs, drafts, free agency, Olympics, World Cup
  • Participate in weekly brainstorm sessions to develop content ideas.
  • Proactively engage cross-functional teams for major initiatives (editorial, video/production, social, marketing).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least five years experience in digital sports media/journalism.
  • Minimum three years managing and working with writers and reporters.
  • Strong news sense and AP style knowledge required.
  • Deep understanding of SEO best practices and headline optimization.
  • Experience coordinating and managing live blogs for key sporting events.
  • Keen eye for prioritizing content and spotting emerging trends and storylines on social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to cross-collaborate and work well in a team setting.

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 – $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.
