Yahoo Finance seeks an editor

Yahoo Finance is looking for an experienced editor with superior communications skills and deep knowledge of business and finance.

The editor will work with Yahoo Finance’s reporters and analysts, providing feedback and guidance as stories are developed from initial pitch to final draft. The ideal editor will have experience working in a fast-paced newsroom where quick turnaround times are critical for providing the best experience for the audience. Familiarity in digital sources like social media is a must. Multimedia skills is a plus. This position will be based in New York.

Responsibilities:

  • Edit and manage a team of two to five reporters
  • Attend regular newsroom meetings
  • Coordinate with live show and video producers
  • Lead efforts to set and achieve key performance indicators including page views and engagement
  • Must be knowledgable of current events

Skills/Requirements:

  • At least 2 years experience in online media or journalism
  • Impeccable news judgment
  • Extensive experience using social media as a source of news
  • Superior communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams
  • Comprehensive understanding of editorial best practices
