WSJ’s “Heard on the Street” seeks a columnist

What better role is there in financial journalism than writing for The Wall Street Journal’s Heard on the Street?

Heard is the Journal’s home for financial analysis and commentary. It’s a global team that writes sophisticated, quick and sharp commentary on markets, companies and economies. We question conventional wisdom and dig deeply into the numbers to give readers deep insights into business and investing. We have exposed scams, highlighted flaws in corporate strategy and, occasionally, tilted at windmills.

We are seeking a numerate writer to be based in New York to cover banks, insurers, asset managers and fintech for the recently-expanded column. The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist with a strong analytical bent, at least some knowledge of the industry and a high comfort level with finance and accounting who is able to generate column ideas and take a view. The columnist will collaborate with colleagues based around the world.

The position reports to Heard on the Street Editor Spencer Jakab.
