“Ahead of the Tape,” the prominent daily markets column that runs on the front of the WSJ’s Money & Investing section, is looking for an energetic, ambitious, financially savvy writer.

The position involves writing incisive financial commentary for all editions of the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires and on WSJ.com.

Candidates should be deeply analytical and able to take a reported view on complex topics. They must be versatile and able to express views both on companies across a wide swath of industries as well as macro-economic trends. Sharp writing skills are crucial, as is the ability to work under tight deadlines. A high level of financial and economic literacy is a must.

The successful candidate also needs to be comfortable setting the agenda on corporate and financial stories. The position is part of the Journal’s “Heard on the Street” team, and the writer will on occasion have the opportunity to contribute elsewhere in this section. As such, the Tape writer must be able to work collaboratively with other members of the team.

The ideal candidate will have several years of experience as a reporter or columnist, or a background in finance and strong writing ability.
