WSJ seeks TV reporter in California

The Media & Marketing group at The Wall Street Journal is looking for a reporter to cover the television industry, specifically cable channels and online video outlets.

Television is in the middle of far-reaching changes, as the growing popularity of outlets like Netflix draws consumers away from traditional broadcast and cable channels, the profit engines of many of the big entertainment companies. Over time the structural changes are likely to lead to a period of consolidation.

The successful candidate will help cover changing consumer habits and the business implications. The position entails coverage of cable network owners, including AMC Networks (home of Breaking Bad and Walking Dead), Discovery Communications, Food Network owner Scripps Networks Interactive, Starz, A+E Networks and Liberty Media Corp. as well as online video services Aereo, Hulu and Crackle. Five years’ experience in corporate beat reporting is required, along with a demonstrated ability to break news and to handle in depth features.

Please attach a resume, cover letter and three to five published clips to your online application.
