The Wall Street Journal seeks a reporter to cover the U.S. stock market a high-profile, fast-paced beat at the core of the Journal.
It’s an exciting time to join the markets team. The stock market’s hair-raising tumble, its rapid recovery and where it’ll go next is a major story this year. And the Journal has given its markets coverage a digital makeover, anchored by a new page with an emphasis on realtime news, analysis and visuals.
The New York-based reporter will work at the intersection of big themes that touch economies and investors all over the world: sputtering growth and central banks’ response, volatile oil prices, the outlook for IPOs, the plumbing of modern markets and more.
The reporter should enjoy reading the tea leaves of the market and be eager to explain to readers what’s going and why it matters.
The successful candidate will tell stories through people, visuals, data and deeper-dive enterprise.
The reporter should be tenacious about covering news in realtime, an authoritative writer and able to identify trends on the horizon. The successful candidate is excited about markets reporting, comfortable with change and willing to rethink what a “story” is. This role will report to the U.S. Stocks Editor.
