WSJ seeks Southern Europe bureau chief

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced journalist to take on the role of bureau chief for Southern Europe. This chief would lead a team of reporters covering a broad and diverse range of issues across Italy, Iberia, Greece and the Vatican.

The bureau requires a versatile, ambitious leader who can direct coverage of everything from Greece’s economic travails to Spain’s Catalan independence drama and Pope Francis’ leadership of the Catholic Church. Candidates need to have the breadth and flexibility to toggle among a wide range of topics – from banking and corporate news to politics, economics and general news. Also critical is the ability to manage reporters in remote offices.

We need someone with a proven track record of executing a wide range of storytelling, particularly the Journal’s new, digital-first story formats, and a demonstrated ability to land ambitious enterprise stories.

The job requires close cooperation with other bureaus in the region and a talent for stitching together broad, Europe-wide stories. The position is based in Italy.

Please note only successful candidates will be contacted.
