WSJ seeks senior correspondent in Tokyo

The Wall Street Journal’s Tokyo bureau is looking for a senior corporate correspondent to lead a team covering some of the world’s most important companies including Toyota, Sony and Honda.

S/he will lead day-to-day coverage of these companies and guide larger features. The position combines editing, solo projects and collaborative work with our stellar team of corporate reporters. The senior correspondent also works closely with Asia corporate editor and his team.

Recent stories by the Tokyo corporate team include deep dives into Sony’s business transformation and Toyota’s conversion to autonomous driving. Working with Hong Kong colleagues, we have broken news on the sale of Sharp and the possible sale of chip maker Renesas. Tech is a top priority as we chronicle the future of driving, Japan’s central role in the smartphone business and Internet companies such as Softbank and Line.

We are looking for someone with experience in corporate coverage as well as top-notch writing and collaborative skills. Fluency in Japanese is an advantage but not required.

Dow Jones offers an opportunity to work for one of the world’s leading financial and business news companies. We invite interested candidates to submit a cover letter and detailed resume (including up to five published samples of your work), current and expected salary.
