WSJ seeks religion reporter in California

The Wall Street Journal seeks a dynamic reporter to cover religion and social movements in the U.S., as they impact politics, policy, law and culture.

Religious beliefs and social movements fuel the biggest debates of our time: healthcare, marriage, terrorism and immigration, religious accommodation. While national in scope, the beat is based in California, the birthplace of the modern megachurch, and a launch pad for movements that have shaped the nation.

The role also includes regional reporting responsibilities of the kind only the West can provide: a wildfire seen from space; the occasional armed occupation of a bird sanctuary. The successful candidate will be able to deliver exclusives and develop enterprise, plus jump into breaking news in any of our 14 states from Texas to Hawaii. A track record of collaborative reporting is essential. This reporter will be part of a team that covers a wide range of topics, and this beat will intersect with many major national and international themes.

Applications should include a resume, cover letter, and up to five published clips.
