WSJ seeks newsroom standards editor

The Wall Street Journal seeks an editor to oversee newsroom standards.

This is a senior position based in New York with primary responsibility for ensuring the reporting, editing and publication of news all meet our high Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones Newswires standards.

Specific duties include but are not limited to pre-publication review of certain articles, working with Dow Jones media attorneys and editors on guiding reporters during the reporting process, post-publication resolution of issues and travel to help train journalists on standards issues.

The selected editor will work closely with the standards team, Dow Jones attorneys, staff journalists worldwide and will report to the Editor, Ethics and Standards.

Candidates should have substantial and high-level editing experience and significant knowledge of Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones standards and processes.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
